EVER since the Lewinsky story broke in January, conservatives and pundits have been prophesying Clinton's demise. Now the pundits are scratching their heads, and Newt Gingrich is scratching the stump where his head used to be. What went wrong? Basically, conservatives underestimated Clinton's hand and overplayed their own. Their consolation is that they can learn important lessons from their mistakes.
