PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local EQUATE, a joint venture that teams-up U.S.-based UNION CARBIDE and PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES (PIC), a subsidiary of KUWAIT PETROLEUM CORP. (KPC) of Kuwait, completed their first petrochemical complex in Kuwait in 1997. The manufacturing base in question featured a 600,000 metric ton per year methane cracker to feed downstream plants consisting of a 450,000 mt/y polyethylene unit and a 350,000 mt/y ethylene glycol facility. The complex in question required an investment of some $2,000,000,000 to complete.
