Nov. 29 -- No one wants a product that only appeals to consumers for five or six years. It's just not cost-effective. You want customers who stick with you. As a result, Chuck E. Cheese is being forced to grow up.
The Irving, Texas-based CEC Entertainment Inc., formerly known as ShowBiz Pizza Time, is making its robotic rodent a little more hip. Kill the tux, bow tie and derby -- bring on the baggy pants, skateboarder pads and baseball cap. Chuck E.'s no longer "cute" -- he's "tight."
The company hopes that Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza, the 44-state restaurant chain, can become a destination eatertainment venue ...
