Article: Japan's MHW relaxes procedures for health food labels.

Japan's health food manufacturers are crowding the doors of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to apply for its Specially Designated Health Food label after the Ministry added 18 products to its list of eligible health foods in late-1997. At the same time, it eased conditions and paper work required to gain Ministry approval and obtain use of the mark certifying this approval.
