In the past few months, products based on hydrolyzed collagen have reached the market which purport to confer benefits in osteoarthritis patients. All these products make reference to a body of scientific work conducted on behalf of German company Deutsche Gelatine Fabriken by various researchers, including Milan Adam of the Institute of Rheumatology in Prague, the Czech Republic. Prof Adam conducted much of the scientific work that is behind the patents awarded to DGF on the use of enzymatically-produced collagen hydrolyzate in this condition.
