Cartoon Network, in exploding from 38 million to 54 million homes pass- ed this year, hit its stride as a major marketing vehicle, becoming the darling of many children's advertisers and a top destination for kids ages 6 to 11.
One campaign alone, "Dexter's Duplication Summer," promoting the network's original animated series "Dexter's Laboratory's" shift to five-nights-a-week this fall, drew 35 million phone calls over eight weeks. And the toll-free phone number was only flashed on the screen once a day.
