From all reports, the American market for herbal products has been growing rapidly over the past three years. This growth is beginning to be reflected in the markets of other countries including some of those in Europe.
However, the current freedom experienced in the USA with regard to the marketing of herbs as dietary supplements is almost unique to the American market. Since the passing of the Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act in 1994, herbs and botanicals are firmly entrenched as dietary supplement ingredients which can be used in combination with other categories of ingredients.
