HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1998--TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (OSLO:TGS) today announced the commencement of the Phase 49 2-D non-exclusive program in the Desoto Canyon and Lloyd Ridge areas of the Gulf of Mexico.
Acquisition on this 12,000 kilometer project began on December 4, 1998 with the newest TGS-NOPEC seismic vessel, the "Northern Access." The "Northern Access," launched in September 1998, is a state-of-the-art high technology vessel capable of towing streamer lengths of 8 to 13 kilometers. Phase 49 is the first non-exclusive survey in the Gulf of Mexico that TGS-NOPEC has acquired with its own vessel.
