The U.S. Air Forces Europe (USAFE) are planning to realign the fighter squadrons in the command to bring them into compliance with a 1996 decision by the Combat Air Forces (CAF) command to bring all squadrons up to 24 aircraft.
The CAF decision was issued to try to improve the ability of squadrons to continue normal operations even when portions of the unit were deployed to different locations for contingencies.
