Art critic Peter Schjeldahl, who has written for the Village Voice for the past eight years (in addition to stints in the '60s and '80s) and was previously a senior editor at Art in America, has been named art critic for the New Yorker, now under the editorial direction of David Remnick. Replacing Schjeldahl at the Voice is art critic, lecturer, teacher and A.i.A. contributing editor Jerry Saltz.
