Dec. 29 -- SALINAS, Calif. -- Scheid Vineyards Inc., which farms 6,000 acres of wine grape vineyards from Soledad to the county line, is expanding.
Scheid will lease 700 acres between Teague and Hobson roads, just south of Greenfield.
"The location is superb, and the site is only two miles from our vineyard headquarters, offering us good economies of scale," said Scott D. Scheid, company vice president and chief operating officer.
The new vineyard land will be Scheid's largest Monterey County growing area. Scheid also has extensive spreads outside Bradley and San Lucas.
