Charges of workplace sexual harassment are on the rise. Many attribute this increase to the publicity on the subject surrounding the White House. In the past when high profile workplace sexual harassment allegations have been made, such as those against Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas and U.S. Senator Robert Packwood, there was also a rise in sexual harassment complaints related to employment situations. Media attention heightens the overall awareness of the issue.
What acts may constitute sexual harassment are not always clear. The law does not ban romance in the workplace. Casual remarks do not, in themselves, rise to the level of unlawful harassment. ...
