Industry remains confident despite sluggish exports.
THE MARKET FOR caustic potash (potassium hydroxide) remains stable. Demand continues to be driven by the leading uses of caustic potash, particularly the manufacture of potassium carbonate and specialty fertilizers such as potassium phosphates.
Producers expect the demand for caustic potash to grow, and Vulcan Chemicals plans to expand the KOH capacity of its plant in Port Edwards, Wis., by roughly 25 percent, with the potential for an additional expansion to 40 percent.
