WASHINGTON _ Former senator Carol Moseley-Braun, who persuaded President Clinton to make school construction a major issue in his second term, has been named a consultant to the U.S. Education Department.
Education Secretary Richard Riley said Tuesday that Moseley-Braun will be responsible for outreach efforts on school construction issues in the department's Office of Intergovernmental and Interagency Affairs.
The part-time job, based in Washington, will pay $56.73 an hour.
Moseley-Braun, defeated for re-election last November, had previously been approached by the White House about an ambassadorship to New Zealand.
