PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES CO. (PIC) is currently gearing-up to undertake an ammonia to methanol conversion project. In so doing, the company recently awarded a construction contract to Germany-based LURGI OEL GAS CHEMIE.
According to the terms of the award, LURGI will be responsible for the provision of the required basic engineering as well as a license for the converting plant. The new facility, of undisclosed cost, is to be sited at Shuaiba, Kuwait. The planned unit will have an installed production capacity of 2000 metric tons per day.
