The arts and music industry in Memphis is of paramount importance to life in this city.
"Memphis music," which to me encompasses blues, gospel, rock and roll, and sold, is so interwoven with the fabric of Memphis that its citizens often take it for granted. Although Elvis Presley and "Memphis music" remain synonymous, worldwide symbols of our city, another genre continues to play an integral part in this particular aspect of our artistic culture - the classic sounds brought to you by the Memphis Symphony.
