``Requiems,'' by Gabriel Faur and Maurice Durufl, performed by the Corydon Singers and the English Chamber Orchestra; Matthew Best, director (Hyperion, 78 minutes). Here's a logical coupling if ever there was one. More than a half-century separates the Requiems by Faur and Durufl, but they breathe something of the same serene spirit. The latter work, in fact, is modeled after the former. Durufl was no copycat, however. He was a craftsman, and the raw materials on his workbench were the centuries-old plainsong melodies that we usually call ``Gregorian.''
