The European Commission's Merger Task Force has received notification of plans by German publishing giant Bertelsmann to take control of fellow German publisher Springer-Verlag GmbH & Co. KG and Springer-Verlag KG (Wissenschaftsverlag Springer) through a share purchase deal. The Commission is inviting comments from interested parties by January19 (by fax on +32 2/296 43 01), quoting reference number IV/M.1377 - Bertelsmann/Wissenschaftsverlag Springer.
Currently under review is a proposal by Recoletos Compania Editorial SA, a Spanish media company controlled by Britain's Pearson Plc, to buy a 30% stake in Unidad Editorial SA, the publisher of ...
