Mecklenburg County, NC, reorganized its employee orientation to prove that the county's employees are its priceless resource. Although revamping employee orientation may be slow and results are not apparent, the changes introduced in the county indicate lasting improvements.
First impressions are the most lasting. At least, that's what we've been told since the time we were children. And this philosophy can apply to new employees' impressions of their employers.
One of the first and most lasting impressions new employees have of their employers is how they are greeted and treated on their first day of work. Perhaps, then, employee orientation is a new employee's most critical ...
