If you buy champagne or sparkling wine now and want to hold it for the millennium, will it keep?
Yes, if it is properly stored - which is, to say, in a dark, cool place with the bottles on their sides and away from any vibration, such as a washing machine or furnace.
Even a $7 Spanish Cava - those very reasonable, not bad sparkling wines - will keep for a year, maybe two.
But because this is the millennium, most people will be hunting for something a little classier and more expensive, which lands the demand and the wallet pretty squarely into the realm of French Champagne and, to some degree, into California sparkling wines.
