Developers tripped over one another in the early 1970s to build offices in booming west suburban Oak Brook.
Large tracts of available land and low DuPage County taxes made it a popular site for the new suburban ``drive-up office'' -- large parking lots surrounding low-slung buildings. With easy access to the East-West and Tri-State tollways and one of the area's first regional shopping malls, the bedroom community quickly became one of the most prestigious suburban office addresses.
