Exploring the Frontier
I would like to start by answering the two questions people most frequently ask me when they find out I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania. Yes, the streetlights do look like Hershey's "Kisses," and, yes, the air does smell like chocolate. I also would like to talk about what the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship that I was awarded in 1980 meant to me. The two other former Fellows speaking before me put it very well; it was a vote of confidence, but it was not just a vote of confidence with some kind words. Phi Kappa Phi put its money where its mouth was, and said, "We have faith in your potential, and we think you are headed in the right direction." In ...
