Jan. 25 -- ALBANY, N.Y. -- University at Albany and International Business Machines Corp. today plan to announce establishment of a supercomputing research center that will house a nearly $1 million IBM supercomputer.
The project will support the university's research into semiconductors and high-technology work force training programs.
Funding for the project, which includes an $875,000 IBM RS/6000 SP computer, is being shared by IBM and the university.
The university will use the machine to assess and predict the performance of the computer chip interconnect research it is conducting. Interconnects ...
