Government has announced plans to privatize its two state-owned bauxite companies, Berbice Mining Enterprise Ltd. (Bermine) and Linden Mining Enterprise Ltd. (Linmine). The companies will be restructured separately into new individual private companies that will each be capitalized, 60% majority-owned, and operated by a private investor:
Bermine mines, processes and sells "refractory A super calcined" (RASC) grade bauxite in the Kwakwani region of Guyana, with processing facilities in Everton near the mouth of the Berbice River; Guyana is internationally recognized as a source of very high quality bauxite reserves, with large proven deposits of refractory, ...
