Wienstrom, the municipal electricity distributor in the Austrian capital of Vienna, has signed a power supply contract with a consortium headed by regional hydro-electric utility Tiroler Wasserkraftwerke AG (Tiwag). With effect from the February 19 deadline for deregulating the EU electricity market, the consortium will supply 240 GWh annually to Wienstrom. The remaining partners are Bayernwerk (part of Germany's Viag group), Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg (ENBW), also of Germany, and Vorarlberger Kraftwerke AG (VKW) from the Austrian Tyrol.
