Finally, the machine vision industry is shaking off the shroud of mystery that has traditionally surrounded it. According to a recent study, the North American market for general purpose machine vision has experienced a 13.2 percent increase in sales, to $218 million, from 1996 to 1997. This market is expected to increase at an annual rate of 16 percent through the year 2002.
