Feb. 12 -- MCI WorldCom Inc. threw the fate of its 4,800 Colorado Springs software engineers into limbo Thursday, announcing a complex multibillion-dollar agreement in which another company will take over much of MCI's high-tech work.
MCI WorldCom engineers here will have to wait two months to find out who ultimately will be signing their paychecks: MCI WorldCom or Electronic Data Systems Corp., the world's second-biggest information technology contractor.
