You really shouldn't encourage my sociopathic tendencies. I've been in a normal frame of mind, relatively speaking, for some time now, but it ended last week when I got a letter from a Gentle Reader thanking me for helping him realize that he's a misanthrope.
This in itself is not unusual. I've gotten numerous letters thanking me for making misanthropy acceptable, and I've saved them all as proof that, like some other people I could name, I work in mysterious ways. What made this latest letter different was the writer's confession of something that had been buried in his subconscious until I came along and dug it out.
