Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccination has an important role in the prevention of leprosy in central India.
Researcher S.P. Zodpey and colleagues conduced a hospital-based, pair-matched, case-control study at Government Medical College Hospital in Nagpur in central India to estimate the effectiveness of bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination in the prevention of leprosy ("Effectiveness of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin Vaccination in the Prevention of Leprosy: A Case-Finding Control Study in Nagpur, India," Int J Lepr Other Mtycobacterial Dis, 1998;66(3):309-315).
