Liposome vectors worked better ex vivo than in vivo in an animal model of lung transplantation.
C.H.R. Boasquevisque and colleagues compared the efficacy of in vivo and ex vivo liposome transfection in rat lung transplantation ("Liposome-Mediated Gene Transfer in Rat Lung Transplantation: A Comparison between the in vivo and ex vivo Approaches," Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, January 1999;117(1):8-14).
