CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA
CONSPIRACY theorists might not be surprised by the timing of the British row on the safety of genetically modified food crops (see above). On February 15th, just after the story emerged, delegates from 170 countries met in Cartagena to draft a protocol on the movement of these and other genetically modified organisms (GMOs) from one country to another. It is to be called the Biosafety Protocol, and the issues at stake are as varied as the countries themselves.
