Gender related issues permeate the lives of early adolescents. The middle school advisory is presented as an opportunity for students to explore their self concepts as females and males. Gender equity and gender self-confidence are discussed as crucial elements to include in the middle school curriculum.
The middle school years are filled with relationship issues for students. Adolescents worry about fitting in, who is in which clique, who does not belong, and how to survive in their social milieu.
