Keeping one's cholesterol level below 200 is important in the prevention of heart attacks and other forms of cardiovascular disease--but that's not the entire picture. The cholesterol measurement includes two kinds of cholesterol: HDL cholesterol (the good kind) and LDL cholesterol (the bad stuff), and we need to take steps to increase the former while decreasing the latter. But there is another kind of fatty substance in the blood whose importance has been overlooked in the past--the triglycerides.
