INTRODUCTION

Hysteresis loss in a material is a measure of the energy dissipated by various processes. Some part of the dissipative energy is transformed into heat, which deteriorates rubber vulcanizates. Again, the tensile and the tear strength are directly a function of hysteresis loss. The reduction of life cycle due to hysteresis loss is a classical problem for design engineers. Optimization of hysteresis loss for tensile and fatigue properties is a challenge to design structural components, namely tire treads, tank pads, road wheels, building mounts, automotive suspensions, and engine mounts.
