Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Feb. 12 -- CHICAGO -- Industry experts will tell you coupe fans are fickle.

They want to be noticed on the road and if a particular two-door car isn't special, they'll keep shopping.

Chevrolet's latest entry in the segment, the new Monte Carlo, reaches back to its 1970s roots with a classic-looking car that builds on the nameplate's racing heritage.

General Motors Corp.'s mainstay division debuted the Monte Carlo at the Chicago Auto Show on Thursday. GM believes the Monte Carlo will continue to lead the coupe segment.
