The recent news that Celsius and Saab Dynamics are each acquiring 50% of GP&C Sweden AB from the Swedish Aerospace Corporation puts the spotlight on a Swedish-patented system that is showing great promise in the development of new technologies for datalinks and networking. It should also help in the search for an onboard capability to ensure an Airborne Separation Assurance System (ASAS). ASAS is expected to lead to approval of Autonomous Aircraft Operations in low-density airspace by 2010.
