Mar. 9 -- A study funded by rival AT&T says Bell Atlantic has reaped excessive profits from its New Jersey operations, and may not be providing the advanced telephone and data services to the state's consumers, businesses, schools and libraries that the company had promised.
The study, released yesterday, comes out as the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities is examining those very issues.
AT&T is a fierce rival of Bell Atlantic's -- each company wants a piece of the other's prime business. Bell wants to provide long-distance, and AT&T wants to compete for local phone service. Last year, AT&T and MCI funded a ...
