Although many small kitchen electric products have reached the point of market saturation, makers of bread machines find that there's plenty of room for their category to grow.

Illustrating its growth potential, bread machines are in only about 18 percent of American homes today.

However, new research by HFN and interviews with retailers and manufacturers show that the bread machine category is losing rather than gaining market share.
