Interesting new frozen food products range from Maxim's branded recipes from France, to USA-sourced Gourmet to Go vegetarian entrees, to Potato Dogs from Austria. Visitor count was up 11% to 120,000 persons from 180 countries.
Exports of food from France generated FFr173 billion in 1997 compared to total sales of FFr793 billion. That same year the French food industry invested FFr24 billion in plant and equipment, FFr10.4 billion in advertising and FFr2.2 billion in R&D. Many fruits of this labor were on display -- along with products from throughout the world -- at the recently-held SIAL in Paris.
