Article: Canadian cattle probe to look at dumping, subsidies.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Formal U.S. government investigations will move forward on charges that unfair trade practices allow Canadian cattle to come into the U.S. at prices that depress the domestic market.

That news came in the wake of an International Trade Commission (ITC) ruling Jan. 19.

ITC commissioners voted 4-2 that there is reasonable evidence that the U.S. cattle industry is being injured by the Canadian imports. That decision was a prerequisite to formal investigations by the U.S. Department of Commerce on two cases alleging that Canadian cattle enter the U.S. at unfairly low prices.
