Befesa Medio Ambiente SA, the Spanish industrial waste management services firm, has acquired 51% of two Basque zinc waste processing firms through its own zinc processing subsidiary, Compania Industrial Asua-Erandio SA (ASER). The acquisition of Zindes SA and Sondika Zinc SA will cost an initial Pta500 million ($3.4 million); more is to be paid over a 2-year period depending upon results. The two firms which have been acquired have a combined turnover of Pta2,500 million, reports Cinco Dias. ASER is the only firm in Spain to recover zinc and lead from electric arc furnace dusts.
