Last fall, in the heart of downtown Nashville--where the visual arts usually take a back seat to music--Red Grooms installed his largest project to date: a full-scale, working carousel decorated as a tribute to his home state with scenes and characters taken from Tennessee history. Five years in the making, with a budget of approximately $1.85 million, the Tennessee Fox Trot Carousel is the result of the fundraising efforts of a private consortium of businesspeople and Grooms supporters.
