Comanche political history provides a detailed history of Comanche-speaking groups on the Southern Plains, from European contact through their settlement on an Oklahoma reservation. Kavanagh frames his study by addressing several recurring problems in the anthropological study of Native American societies, both on the Plains and elsewhere.
