PARIS -- "Of course I'm nervous; I'm a wreck," said Alber Elbaz, his mop of black curls shooting out in all directions as he paced his office late last week. Psychologically, it is zero hour for the house of Yves Saint Laurent. Elbaz, who was chosen last spring to succeed the legendary designer at Rive Gauche, will show his first collection for the house this morning.

And despite the understandable stage fright, Elbaz, during an exclusive preview with WWD, noted, "I'm also confident. I feel that everyone in the fashion community is very supportive. They're thinking: 'I hope Alber will be doing a good collection for Saint Laurent."'
