NEW YORK -- After falling off the career path for several seasons, dresses are back on the fast track for spring.
Even though business got off to a late start, sales are beginning to percolate, thanks to strong reaction to casual styles and the continued strength of eveningwear and special occasion.
The February and early March rebound for dresses came after a difficult fall and holiday, retailers said, and is giving them reason to project big gains for the crucial spring and summer season.
