Acquisitions, unique marketing establish Italian firm in South America

The dairy industry in Brazil is not that different from the situation in the U.S. and Canada. Perhaps especially for subsidiaries of Parmalat SpA.

While Parmalat USA recently has been busy on the mergers and acquisitions front, Parmalat Brasil, has been no less involved. Although the company has been present in Brazil since 1977, Parmalat Brasil has been especially aggressive since 1990. It has acquired small dairy plants in several Brazilian states and also several food-processing plants with a strong market presence.
