The new year brought a revamped look to the recently sold Riverfront Times, including the disappearance of regular columnists. Among them, Richard Byrne's media column ended its run, and sources at the RFT told SJR that columns do not fit the new owner's mission and image. Byrne is expected to return in mid-May as a contributing writer, according to Editor Safir Ahmed, but will not specifically be assigned to media as a beat reporter. This is an unfortunate loss because St. Louis already has limited coverage of both print and electronic media.
