Khmer Rouge leaders should answer to an international court for their crimes

THE horrors that earned one-legged Ta Mok his nickname ``the butcher'' can scarcely be imagined. He was a commander for the Khmers Rouges, whose savage rule over Cambodia in the 1970s led to nearly 2m deaths. On March 6th, he was arrested and may become the first Khmer Rouge leader to appear in court (see page 94). The beginnings of justice, at last, for the victims of Cambodia's slaughter? Not yet.
