Article: Con Ed conversion plan lacks juice.(direct current electricity conversion proposed by Con Edison of New York)

The DC conversion program proposed by Con Edison last year is still getting jeers from building owners and the Owners Committee On Electric Rates (OCER). That's because many of those applying for Cost Conversion benefits are being told they're ineligible because of their locations, at the same time Con Edison is pumping up the rates to reflect the true costs of supplying the power.

An Early Conversion program is still available, but must be applied for by March 31, 1999. That program could provide owners with a rebate of up to a year's worth of DC bills, but only if their move to AC is completed before September 30, 2000.
