Automated Vehicle System Helps Ease Traffic Congestion at Home Depot's Imports Center
The logistics may sound simple-shuttle full pallet loads of items such as ceiling fans from the end of an order-picking conveyor to a shipping staging area, with all pallet moves orchestrated in response to the directives of a host computer. But when 150 full pallets, interspersed with a like number of partial pallets, need to be moved to as many as 100 shipping lanes each hour, traffic control may get a little complicated.
